AeroPress Brewing Guide
AeroPress is a flexible method for fast, clean, and balanced cups. Adjust contact time and pressure together for the profile you want.
Ratio 1:14-1:16
Water 85-93°C
Grind Medium
Total 1:45-2:30
Step 1
Prepare the filter and add the coffee
Rinse the filter and prep the brewer
Filter rinse and AeroPress setup
Rinse the paper filter and wet the brewer. Add 15g of coffee to the chamber. A medium grind is a stable starting point.
- Choose either the standard or inverted method.
- Zero the scale and timer before you begin.
- Set a water target between 220g and 240g.
Step 2
Bloom and a short stir
Stir gently after a 20-30 second bloom
First pour and short stirring phase
At 0:00, start the bloom with 40-50g of water and wait 20-30 seconds. Then add the remaining water and stir gently 2 or 3 times.
- Adjust water temperature to the roast level.
- Light roasts usually work well at 90-93°C, darker roasts at 85-88°C.
- Over-stirring can increase bitterness from fines.
Step 3
Press and serve
Press with steady pressure for 25-35 seconds
Slow, even pressing into the cup
At around 1:15, press slowly and evenly for 25-35 seconds. Stop when you first hear air. If needed, add a little bypass water to open the cup up.
- Do not force the press; hard pressure raises the chance of filter bypass.
- If the cup is too intense, dilute slightly with hot water.
- Use grind size for the next round of fine-tuning.
